Nine Music has maintained relationships with other record labels out side of it’s group of 4 Internal Labels. Although Nine Music has expressed reluctance to do so, some of the external coalitions have been considered beneficial.

Strength Movement

Strength Movement (formally known as SIN Movement Records) is a record label headed by Rap Raven. Relations began at the beginning of the Second Generation with Strength Movement artists featuring on Nine Music products and vice versa. Strength Movement was also a member of the coalition of record labels known as The Circle. Nine Music continues to maintain a relationship with Strength movement.

Cataclysm Records

Cataclysm was a record label headed by Marshall Raw. The relationship with Cataclysm existed as inter label artist featuring and with both labels being part of The Circle. Cataclysm Records was eventually acquired by Strength Movement Records.

Flatline Entertainment

Is a record label headed by Aggrovation. Nine Music collaborated with them via Flatline artists featuring on Nine Music products and vice versa. There have been no further collaborations with the label since Nine Anthems ‘From The Dirt Came Forth Bread’ in 2004. Flatline Entertaiment was also part of The Circle.

The Unknown Records

Was a rap record label that existed in late 1996. Nine Music first collaborated with the label in many of the Street Cyphers and Talent Shows of that era. The Unknown Records was eventually acquired by Nine Music and formed into a group called the Linch Mob.

Low Life Records

Nine Music’s relations with the label existed as Nine Music had a link to Low Life’s web site and vice versa. Low Life Records are associated with the British Hip Hop Data Base and they added Nine Music (as Nine Foundation Music, it name at the time), and also added some of it’s artists and products.

Benefits

The benefits that was gained from the inter label relations manifested into 2 music scenes. The first music scene came about with the co existence on The Unknown Records and Nine Music (containing about 40 artists). The second scene started with co existence of Strength Movement (then SIN Movement) and Nine Music, then continued with the creation of The Circle (containing about 45 artists).

Extended exposure also became possible through association with other labels. Through the web sites of record labels based in distant geographical location, audiences would travel through the web links to find Nine Music’s sites and vice versa.

Problems

The problems that Nine Music experienced from the working with other record labels mainly came from conflicts in working standards. Factors included artists inter record label appearances, and product release standards. There were a many heated debates at the monthly meetings over how best to work together will keeping in line with the goals of all the labels.

Influence

Nine Music is the largest record label among all of its associates. At one time it was widely known as East London’s largest record label. With an estimated combined inter label production archive of 110 products, Nine Music had the second largest product archive of the labels at 39 releases (just behind Low Life Records 40) in 2004.

Current

Nine Music maintains a relationship with Strength Movement records. Many of the other labels collapsed or relations ended. The Circle ended in 2004 and the music scene that existed shrank considerably (to about 20 artists). Upon the Great Depression the many thought that the scene and Nine Music had ended, but resurgence in January 2008 has brought new light to scene.
